Speaking on the phone can be difficult for a person learning a new language, especially as you are not able to see the person you are speaking to and are not able to read their lips in order to better understand what they are saying.

It is therefore important, as a language learner, to learn some set phrases or sentences that you can use when speaking on the phone to ask for information, reply to simple questions, etc. Let’s look at some common expressions which are used on the telephone.
